Ramadan the month of sacred nights, pious mornings, countless blessings, the realization of strong faith, the building of strong relation with Allah, religious congregations, and a reminder to humanity is among us. شکرالحمداللہ
Muslims around the globe are going to observe fast.
Fasting in Islam means to keep off from eating, drinking and cohabiting with the performance of worship from sunrise to sunset.
Fasting is obligatory in the month of Ramadan, in the Holy Quran Allah says;
O you who believe, Fasting has been prescribed for you, as it had been prescribed for those before you that you may ward off evils. (Sura Al Baqra, ayat 183)
Those who are sick or on a journey, have relieved. They are allowed to fast on the same number of other days, for those who can afford, there is Fidya: feeding a man in need but whosoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him.
Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Quran;
Fast a certain number of days; and (for him)who is sick among you or on a journey (the same) number of other days, and for those who can afford it there is a Fidya, the feeding of a man in need” “But whose does good of his own accord, it is better for him, and fasting is better for you, if you did know.” (Sura Allah Baqra, ayat 154).
This is the month in which the Holy Quran revealed with complete guidance for all mankind.
The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed is a guidance for mankind, and a clear proof of the guidance and a criterion (for right and wrong), and whosoever is present, let him fast, the whole month and whosoever is sick or on journey (let him fast the same number of other days. Allah desires for you ease and desires not a hardship, and He desires that you should complete the period, and you should magnify Allah for having guided you, so that you may be thankful. (Sura, Al Baqra, ayat 185)
According to a Hadith, the reward of virtue in this month is given seventy times more than in the ordinary days, and the urge for evils are sealed off and Satans are kept in custody, while the doors of paradise are opened wide apart.
Namaz-e-Tarawih is performed in the month of Ramadan, Muslims recites Holy Quran from beginning to the end.
Is such worship that is performed in the last ten days in a secluded corner away from all the clamours and tumult of the worldly life in order to remember Allah and worship him in complete mental and spiritual peace away from the worldly involvement.
Fast is not only giving up eating and drinking. It creates piety in the people. They have to refrain from a notorious act, abusive language, dispute, and all the unlawful things should more strictly desist. Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم has said:-
The man who cannot give up the falsified words or deeds, then Allah does not care whether he gives up eating or does not.
Prophet (peace be upon him) has further said:-
There are several people who do not earn anything from fasting except thirst and hunger.
We learn the self-control and curb materialism, overpowered desire and lust.
We become cognizant of the sufferings of those who live below the poverty line that we cannot understand with a stomach full of bread.
By this practice, Islam desires that the problems of the poor and deprived persons are solved by well-to-do persons of Muslim society. It is, for this reason, the month of Ramadan has been called in a Hadith to be a month of sympathy and compassion.
May your Sahar-o-Iftar be filled with utmost blessings. Garner as much blessings and bounties of Allah (SWT) as you could.
Remember me in your prayers, may Allah give me success in my exams here and hereafter. Ameen
!!! Ramadan Mubarak to all of you!!!
